FAQ’s by fellow dog and cat owners

If you’ve never purchased your cat or dog food online before, here are some questions you may be wondering about…

How much should I order?

Because it is frozen you can purchase as much or as little as you’d like, it really depends on how big your freezer is. It is however, more cost effective to purchase in bulk.

How will I know which raw food is best for my pet?

Our feeding guide on the website will help, if you still need more help please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can I feed my cat and dog the same type of raw food?

Yes you can.
However, dogs need more bones and offal in their diet when compared with cats. Cats thrive on beef and chicken alone and don’t need offal as much as dogs do.

How will the food arrive? Frozen? Ice packs?

Our food is sent from New Plymouth and orders will come with ice packs to help keep the products frozen. If they defrost slightly, it is fine to refreeze them.

If I live in New Plymouth am I able to pick it up myself?

Yes you are more than welcome to come and pick up your product. You can purchase the rolls individually or the bulk bags individually.
Our shop hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am – 12pm.

Does feeding your pet raw food make much difference, compared to the tinned stuff from the supermarket?

Our pets’ bodies were designed as nature intended, to eat highly digestible fresh meat and the bones that go with it, as opposed to carbohydrate-heavy food containing additives and preservatives. The key vitamins and minerals in raw meat such as glucosamine, chondroitin, calcium and omega essential fatty acids will have a noticeable impact on the health of your pet. The benefits can include; improved digestion, shinier coat, better bone, teeth and joint health and improvement to the immune system.
All we ask is that you give it a go, you don’t have to commit. See if you notice a difference in your pet and their overall health. The change may surprise you.

Is it safe to feed my pet bones?

In the wild, cats and dogs will eat the entire body of an animal they have hunted, including the bones. Problems can arise when bones are cooked, as it makes them brittle and means they can splinter easily. Bones must be fed raw to your pets and need to be size appropriate.
Larger bones such as veal bones are good for larger dogs, while small bones such as chicken necks are ideal for small breed dogs and cats.
